In today’s crypto update, IOG CEO and founder Charles Hoskinson has unveiled plans that could significantly change how the Cardano community interacts online. The Cardano founder wants to move community discussions away from X and into a dedicated Discord environment focused on collaboration and growth.
Hoskinson Pushes for a Cardano Discord Hub
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has, in a recent post, revealed that he is working with EMURGO CEO Philip Pon on plans to migrate the Cardano community from X to Discord. According to him, this great migration will move community members into a well-coordinated environment free from rage, drama, lies, and embittered individuals. He argued that moving discussions away from the constant distractions of X would help create a healthier, more productive community culture.
Hoskinson believes that under these more serene conditions, the Cardano community and the network itself can make real progress. He said the goal is to build a Discord server with positive, well-moderated channels where members can focus on governance, development, and meaningful discussions rather than online conflicts.
While Hoskinson wants to shift community interaction away from X, he does not plan to abandon the platform completely. He said he will continue to broadcast live streams on X because he has more than one million followers there. However, he announced that he will only accept Ask Me Anything (AMA) questions from the new Cardano Discord server and the existing Midnight Discord community.
This change is expected to encourage more community members to participate through Discord if they want direct access to the Cardano founder. Hoskinson also addressed suggestions that his continued live streams mean he is returning to X as his primary platform. He dismissed that interpretation and maintained that his focus remains on building stronger community spaces elsewhere.
Hoskinson Faces Continuous Criticism on X
Meanwhile, Hoskinson’s latest decision does not come as a surprise to many observers. The Cardano founder has been the subject of intense criticism on X over the past several weeks. Members of the broader crypto community have frequently criticized Hoskinson, his policies, and the performance of Cardano’s native token, ADA.
More recently, NFT creator Masato Alexander revisited allegations that Hoskinson sold ADA at the 2021 bull-market peak. While Alexander said he found evidence showing ADA movements linked to the claims, he acknowledged that his findings could not confirm whether the tokens were actually sold.
Against this backdrop, Hoskinson’s push for a Discord-based community hub appears aimed at fostering discussions away from the constant scrutiny and controversy often seen on X.
Cardano Community Divided Over Hoskinson’s Discord Migration Plan
Hoskinson’s migration plan has sparked mixed reactions on X. Some critics accused the Cardano founder of running away from accountability, calling him a coward. According to this group, the move is an attempt to avoid questions about ADA’s performance and the state of the ecosystem.
Others argued that Discord would shield Hoskinson from factual criticism and create a more controlled environment. Some even claimed that the proposal reflects weakness, arguing that a strong ecosystem does not need protection from criticism.
However, not everyone opposed the idea. Some users pledged support for the migration. Amid the growing debate, Hoskinson launched a surprise AMA session on X to address users’ inquiries.
